Let’s Talk Limpopo

Limpopo as we know it today used to actually be called Northern Transvaal before 1994.
The Province is very well known for its arts and crafts. Though very interesting today we will be looking at some of the construction projects taking place in this province.

The following will give you a bit more insight into the projects currently happening in Limpopo.

Mutshedzi RWS:

This project is currently in Phase 3 and is for Raw water supply in the Vembe District Municipality.
Status for this tender is currently is the Tender stage and is classified as an Open Tender.
For more detailed information on this tender please see PPA 25909 on the Leads 2 Business website

Mokopane Vanadium Project:

This project that is currently in the Procedural stage falls within the Mining industry.

Approval of this project allows for the extraction of a range of different valuable minerals.
For more detailed information on this project please see PPA 15637.

The Development of Communication

posted in: General 0

Communication where did it all start and how did it get to where and what it is now?

The earliest form of communication that we are all familiar with of course are drawings and paintings. Even though speech had already been around before that, it had not completely developed as yet. Drawings and paintings were used one of the earliest ways of communication, around 30 000 years ago.

As time moved on and the human race continued to advance, so did their communication. We moved from drawing on cave walls to rock carvings, or as this is more commonly known as rock art or Petroglyphs. Statutes and sculptures are also often seen or known as petroglyphs and these too convey a certain message.

The next form of communication came to use in the year 9000 BC, this was known as pictograms.  Pictograms were more commonly used to tell or rather, depict a story.

Pictograms eventually evolved into Ideograms. Ideograms mostly used by the Native Americans, Egyptians & the Chinese. This form of communication was ideally used to depict an idea in a certain language.

Finally, writing became part of the development of communication, the early stages of writing where not as you may think by using the alphabet. It was actually what we now know as Hieroglyphs. Each of the symbols used to represent a certain letter, per se.

In 2700 BC  the world was introduced to the Semitic alphabet. This is the alphabet that we are most familiar with now.

Communication has developed so much over the years that it would be difficult to name them all. To name but a few,  we can look at the spoken word, where there are currently about 6500 different languages spoken all over the world. Other forms of communication also include writing, drawing and let’s not forget smoke signals!

Whatever your choice of communication enjoy and do it well.

10 Steps to Customer Service

10 Steps to Customer Service

I think it would be safe to say that great customer service is the key to any successful business.

When was the last time you received a complaint about customer service? Do you think there is a chance that your customer service might not be up to par?
Looking at the next 10 steps to customer service might just be what your company needs to go from average customer service to impeccable customer service.

1. Communication is key!!

Now that is a statement that I can get behind.
How will you or your staff be able to give your customer impeccable customer service if you cannot communicate with them properly?
Communication has a lot to do with how you well you listen to your customer. It is quite simple actually. When your customer has a complaint listen to them and decide from there what your best way forward will be.
Nothing irritates a customer more than an employee that does not feel the need to listen to them. By listening to your customer you will be able to establish a much clearer line of communication.

2. Know what your customer wants

This is quite simple. If you truly believe in customer service you’ll know that if you listen to the finer details of what your customer is saying, you can figure out what they actually want and need before they have to say it out loud.
Now that will definitely impress anybody and is sure to get you some recommendations and compliments.

3. Make them feel at home

Don’t you just love it when you walk into a store and you instantly feel at home?
Why not do the same for your customers?
Instead of teaching your staff a text book greeting or response to customers teach them that each customer is different. Get to know your customer.
Make them feel comfortable by going the extra mile even if it is with something as simple as helping them carry a bag or asking if they need any extra assistance.

4. Respect

Treating your customer with respect can be the difference between getting return business from them and never seeing them again.
We all want to feel respected when visiting other establishments and even in our own. It is imperative to remember that you cannot expect your customers to respect you, your employees or your business if you cannot show then respect first.

5. Happy & Helpful

Whether you’re greeting a customer or assisting with a problem, always try your best to be as helpful and friendly as possible.
When a customer is faced by an employee who looks like they would rather be anywhere but there it makes them feel that they would also rather not be there.
So remember always smile and go the extra mile wherever and whenever possible.

6. Never delay your response

If your customer approaches you with a problem do your best to resolve it as quickly as you can. Get all the information you can and might need to resolve the problem as best you can.

The quicker the problem is resolved the better the outcome for yourself and the customer.

7. Keep to your word

There is nothing more disappointing than visiting your favourite outlet to discover that the service is no longer as great as it used to be.
It is imperative to deliver the same service at all times, never over promise and under deliver

8. Be more skilled

If you’re going to be selling a product or service, make sure you know all there is to know about it.
If you have all the knowledge there is on that specific product or service you will be able to answer all your clients’ questions and also help them make a better informed decision.

9. Everyone is equal

Treating all your customers the same sends a great message. People like visiting establishments where they know that they will be treated in the same warm and friendly manner as the previous person.

10. You can make a mistake

You are human just like any other person you will make mistakes.
The way you handle those mistakes is what is important. Instead of ignoring the problem or saying that it was not you, try admitting to it. You customer will be more at ease with you once you admitted your mistake and apologized for it.

Why we love Green (and you should too)

posted in: Did You Know 0

Why we love Green (and you should too)

Let’s start with a simple explanation of what green is.

“Going green means to pursue knowledge and practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles, which can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations.”

Let’s take a look at some reasons of why we love green:

  • In the long run, you are doing the right thing for the environment. You are creating a cleaner and brighter future for your children and generations after.
  • Anytime you choose to walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation, you reduce (or totally eliminate) the carbon dioxide and particulate emissions created by driving a gas- or diesel-powered car.
  • Cost saving is always a big positive when it comes to going green – this can be achieved by moving over to digital files instead of continuously using paper.
  • Healthier work places for employees is a benefit indeed. Not only do employees think higher of the company as well as the employer, they tend to work for the company a lot longer.
  • By not inhaling all the harmful emissions there would usually be, there tends to be a lot less health issues
  • Tax credits can actually be added by companies that join the going green initiative, this includes using more environmentally friendly products, solar energy and many more.

Consumer demand

A company that has made the choice of being green conscious tends to be more in demand not only by consumers but by investors as well. Simply for the facts that it reflects well on them that they are trying to make a difference.
When a company goes green they tend to save money on utility costs. This does not necessarily mean using solar energy alone, you can also replace normal light bulbs with an energy saving light bulb.

Going green tends to help a company’s public image as well.

People tend to talk more about the good a company is doing when it comes to going green. I am sure you would rather have consumers talk about your company in a positive light instead of being known as just another company harming the environment and not caring.
Insurance companies tend to favour green companies more than usual, if your company or home has gone green or is making an effort to do so, some insurance companies tend to offer you a discount on your premiums.

Here are some companies that also love green:

1) Greenfin Financial Services (They finance smaller households to acquire solar installations)
2) Coca Cola (Designed new cans that can save up to 15000 tons of aluminium a year)
3) Dell (Most of their packaging materials are recyclable)
4) Honda (Started making more hybrid models available to consumers)

When looking at all the different reasons & benefits of why we love green, I think it is safe to say it really is the better choice.

So go ahead and love green we definitely do!!

L2B Blog: Environmental Celebrities

posted in: General 2

Let’s talk about Environmental Celebrities

First of all, let’s start with the important. What is an environmentalist?

I am sure that half of you just shouted Tree Hugger! Or at least thought it.
So an environmentalist or otherwise known as an environmental activist is a person who works to protect the natural environment from destruction & pollution.

Now, who are the celebrities I mentioned earlier?

Leonardo Dicaprio
He created the Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation in 1998. He’s been part of environmental issues like access to clean water, disaster relief and prevention of biodiversity. He is currently on the following board of organisations: The World Wildlife Fund, Global Green USA and International fund for animal welfare. The documentary, The 11th hour gives an idea of earth’s problems and some interesting solutions for them. The documentary was made by Appian Way, a production company owned by Dicaprio. Filming of the documentary lasted for 4 years.

Akon
Growing up in a town without electricity Akon understands how dangerous it is to use toxic fuels and other pollutants for fires. Akon, along with a childhood friend Thione Niang who is associated with Samba Bathly, worked together to create Akon Lighting Africa in 2013. It took less than a year before they installed quality solar solutions, these include street lamps, domestic as well as individual kits. This happened in 14 African countries.

Maroon 5
Maroon 5 contribute to this cause by driving biodiesel-powered tour buses. They promote recycling at all their concerts. They also donate a portion of ticket sales to an environmental charity known as Global Cool. They support the Environmental media association, Kiva and Teen impact.

Brad Pitt
According to the U.S Green Building Council, Brad established “the largest, greenest single family community in the world”. He has his own foundation known as the Make it right foundation. The foundation is on track to finish 150 homes in New Orleans, all residences will sport environmentally friendly features.

Pierce Brosnan

Pierce serves on the boards of a couple of groups like Natural Resources, Defense council, California Coastal Protection network and Sea Shepherd. Brosnan was included into the Environmental Hall of Fame for his efforts in raising awareness against illegal whale hunting.

So it seems that only the men seem to be passionate about this situation, ladies come on! Although I would probably also just follow in these heartthrobs footsteps… But anyway, I think every individual can make an impact with a little initiative.
