The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a regional grouping of 21 African States which have agreed to promote regional integration through trade development and transport facilitation. COMESA’s objectives include sustainable economic development through economic and social progress in all Member States through increased co-operation and integration in all fields of development particularly in Trade, Customs and Monetary Affairs, Transport, Communication and Information Technology, Industry and Agriculture, Energy, Environment and Natural Resources including Gender and Social Development. The Secretariat is based in Lusaka, Zambia. More information can be obtained from the COMESA website www.comesa.int. The COMESA Secretariat intends to develop Data Centre houses computing servers and core network resources that require high availability, limited, and controlled physical access to the facility, protected from fire and safety hazard, adequately supplied with power utility, controlled heat and ventilation system, to ensure critical services are always operating. The objective of the assignment is to design, supply and installation of a containerized data centre facilities and perform the necessary civil works and training of COMESA IT network staff in data center technologies. Rehabilitation of the Kariba Dam in Zambia. The Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project will consist of the following: (a) Kariba Dam Spillway Refurbishment; by reviewing and, as needed, updating the detailed designs for the rehabilitation works. The works will include fabrication and installation of an emergency gate and a new gantry, with associated civil works refurbishment, to prevent potential failure of the upstream spillway control facility, which would address possible drop in water levels below the minimum operational levels and interrupting power production; (b) Reshaping of the Kariba Dam Plunge Pool downstream of the dam to limit scouring and erosion that could potentially undermine the dam foundations; and (c) Supervise all related rehabilitation works and management of environmental and social safeguards. Description:

The Government of Mozambique (GoM) has received financing from the African Development Bank (the “Bank”) toward the cost of Songo -Matambo 400kV Overhead Transmission Line Project, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this Grant to eligible payments under the contract with a Senior Technical Advisor for PIU of the Project. The services included under this assignment is the technical assistance to the PIU during the Conception & Preparation of the project, Supervision of Construction works and during the Defect and Liability period. The project will have a full assistance of an Owners Engineer that will revise and submit the draft project related documents to EDM’s PIU for final comments/approval, and EDM will seek advice from the technical Advisor whenever needed before any action. The Senior Technical Advisor will work under the responsibility of the Project Implementation Unit as a reinforcement in technical aspects. The Senior Technical Advisor will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of the project; in particular, the Senior Technical Advisor have to ensure technical quality, timely approval of technical documentation, on the job training and knowledge transfer to EDM staff and smooth coordination between different components activities. The estimated duration of the assignment is 48 months which includes phase I (Project Conception & Procurement), phase II (Construction Supervision) and phase III (Defects Liability Period). The Electricidade de Moçambique E.P, now invites eligible Individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested Individual consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (academic and professional qualifications, description of project -related experience, experience in similar conditions, etc.).
