Featured Project: Limpopo Central Hospital – Building

Limpopo

Description
Construction of the Limpopo Central Hospital, (LCH) in Polokwane, Limpopo Province. The new hospital will cater for the residents of Polokwane and the surrounding area. The main hospital will have 3 floors catering for 488 beds and will be the major teaching hospital for the University of Limpopo Faculty of Health Sciences and School of Medicine. The proposed site is currently situated between Edupark and the Northern Academy Secondary School on the remainder of Erf 6861 of Pietersburg Extension 30, to the north of the N1 (Polokwane Bypass), south of Suid Street and to the east of Webster Street. The land is approximately 30ha (30 000m²).

Featured Project: Selati Railway Bridge

Mpumalanga

Description
Development of a 48 bed Kruger Shalati tourism facility comprising of 12 railway carriages and a lounge carriage on the Selati Railway Bridge over the Sabie River adjacent to the Skukuza Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga. The scope of works could also include the refurbishment of the existing Waterkant Guest Houses as a upmarket tourism accommodation comprising of 12 beds with associated lounge and dining facilities, these two guest houses will be replaced by the development of a 12 bed guest house available for use by the general public just to the west of the existing Nyati Guest House. The development as a whole will reflect the historical and heritage value of the Selati Railway Line. Approximate GPS co-ordinates: 24°59’28.93″S 31°35’48.71″E

Description
Construction of a residential zone at the Boulevard Triomphal Precinct located on the Boulevard Triomphal, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. The precinct will include commercial office buildings, a hotel, residential spaces, a retail high street, restaurants, coffee shops, a conference facility and a grandstand to allow for a possible event arena. The street level is designed to enhance the informal trading market on the edge of the site and create activation along the surrounding roads.

Featured Project: Kamoa-Kakula Project – DRC

 

Description
The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project has been independently ranked as the world’s largest, undeveloped, high-grade copper discovery by international mining consultant Wood Mackenzie in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a very large, near-surface, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. The prefeasibility study has indicated annual mine production of 3 Mtpa at an average grade of 3.86% copper over a 24-year mine life, resulting in annual copper production of approximately 100,000 tonnes. Initial capital cost, including contingency, is US$1.2 billion.

NHBRC: National Home Builders Registration Council – a regulatory body of the home building industry
PFS: Pre-feasibility study
POSEIA: Plan of Study for Environmental Impact Assessment
PPA: Purchase Power Agreement
PPP: Public-private partnership is a contract between a public-sector institution and a private party, where the private party performs a function that is usually provided by the public sector and/or uses state property in terms of the PPP agreement.

PPPFA: Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act of 2000 and the Preferential Procurement Regulations of 2001 establish the obligation of government to award preferential procurement points to enterprises owned by historically disadvantaged persons, including females
QHSE: SHE/SHEQ – Quality, Health, Safety, Environment
QSE: Qualifying Small Enterprise is one of the categories of South African businesses as per BBEEE with an annual turnover of between R10 million and R50 million
RFT: Request for Tender is a formal, structured invitation to suppliers to submit or bid to supply products or services.
RFP: Request for Proposal is submitted in an early stage in the procurement process and is commonly used when it is required technical expertise, specialized capability, or in some cases where the product or service requested do not already exist and must be developed.
RFQ: Request for Quotation is when Suppliers are invited to provide a quote for the provision of specific goods or services.
RFI: Request for Information is requesting information necessary to decide the procurement process. Hence, RFI typically occurs during a planning phase.
SLA: Service Level Agreement is  An agreement between two or more parties. Where one party is the customer and the other party is a supplier delivering a service.
SMME: small, medium and micro enterprises, also referred to as small business, play an important role in an economy. They can be key drivers of economic growth, innovation and job creation.
