Featured Project: Kimberley Mental Health Facility

Description: Construction of a mental healthcare facility, Barkly Road, Kimberley in the Northern Cape. Estimated project value: R1.8 billion.

Notes: The Department of Health is in the process of obtaining additional funds from National Treasury and the National Department of Health for the project. Some of the sub-contractors on site have received part payment. Payments from August until February are still outstanding. There is skeleton staff on site and minimal works is taking place.

Featured Project: Tunisia Economic City – Residential City

Description: Construction of a residential city for a new mixed-use development to be known as Tunisia Economic City in Tunisia, North Africa. The Residential City is to consist of 7.6% land area / 28 million m² GFA / 4.10 FAR, and will include high density, mid density, townhouses, family villas and luxury villas. This new city is located in Enfidha District in close proximity to the Enfidha Al-hammamat International airport which can help initially to speed up the building of the city. The 90 square kilometres project with an 18 kilometres beach front modern sustainable and eco-friendly metropolis will be the home of 500,000 inhabitants and will provide 250,000 jobs once completed within 15 years from now. Estimated project value: US$ 50 billion.

Featured Project: Kimberley Lenmed Royal Hospital and Heart Centre

Description: Construction of a two storey 30 500 m² Lenmed Private Hospital consisting of a basement, ground, first and second floors on the corner of Jacobus Smit Avenue and Welgevonden Street, Kimberley, Northern Cape which will be known as the Kimberley Lenmed Royal Hospital and Heart Centre. There will be 170 beds and the overall construction area is approximately 30 500m². Services include major and minor theatres, delivery rooms, and an oncology bunker, as well as a cathlab facility, casualty unit, resuscitation room, maternity, paediatric, intensive care, medical and surgical wards. Contract value: R238.4 million.

Featured Project: PwC Head Office, Waterfall City

Description: Construction of a new head office for PricewaterhouseCoopers at Waterfall City, Midrand, Johannesburg. The R1.5 billion high-rise building of 26 storeys, comprising 40 000m² of modern offices, is designed to house 3 500 PwC employees in an efficient, optimally designed workplace. The PwC Tower will be constructed in phases due to the unique twist design of the structure. It gently twists through in its height to frame the grand urban park which forms the green heart of Waterfall City. The building is also is designed to conform to the internationally recognised LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver standard. Given the height of the building and that it is situated on a high point in Waterfall City, it will easily be the tallest structure on the corridor between the Sandton CBD and the Pretoria / Tshwane CBD. The PwC Tower will be visible from almost anywhere within a 30km radius. Estimated at R1.5 Billion

Featured Project: Boikarabelo Coal Mine, Limpopo

Boikarabelo Coal Mine, Limpopo

Description: The Boikarabelo coal project is located in the Waterberg area of the Limpopo Province. Boikarabelo has probable reserves of 744.8 million tonnes of coal – an increase of 108.8 million tonnes, making it one of the largest remaining coal deposits in the country. The Boikarabelo coal seam is between 20 metres and 30 metres below the surface, enabling low-cost, open-cut mining. The seam is between 120 metres and 130 metres thick, with zones of varying quality thermal and soft-coking coal. Phase 2, planned for 2018, will involve ramping up production to 20 million tons of product coal. The estimated capital cost for the project is $480 million.

Notes: Resgen said it had experienced a slight delay in financial close of the project. The mid-December approvals target represents a “slight slippage” in Resgen’s preferred timeline to develop the mine, but the company said that, if achieved, it meant financial close would likely be reached by March 2017, with the Boikarabelo mine producing its first coal in the first quarter of 2019.

Ballito Junction

Description : Expansion of the Ballito Junction shopping centre from 9 313m² to 80 000m², and totaling 130 stores. Once completed, it will be known as Ballito Junction, and will function as the dominant super-regional mall in its area. The mall will comprise four split levels of retail and five parking levels. Development rights that exist on the site allow for the centre to be further expanded to 90 000m². The site is located along Leonora Drive in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. Approximate GPS Coordinates, as per Google: -29.526867, 31.203649. Total estimated project value: R 1.6 billion.

Description : Construction of a hospital for a proposed medical village project development is located in Accra, on a 30 acre site acquired adjacent to Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in Ghana. The construction of a medical village in Ghana that will consist of: a 380 ward hospital, 120 ward women and children hospital, underground parking space for 1,000 vehicles, 120 ward housing for the elderly, 17 storeys doctors’ offices, a medical shopping mall; all things health; 40 x unit studio apartments for medical trainees; a medical research center in collaboration with world renowned hospitals; a 4 star medical hotel, a 2 star medical hotel, air ambulance and paramedic services and a housing facility for medical staff.
