| Rehabilitation of the Kariba Dam in Zambia. The Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project will consist of the following: (a) Kariba Dam Spillway Refurbishment; by reviewing and, as needed, updating the detailed designs for the rehabilitation works. The works will include fabrication and installation of an emergency gate and a new gantry, with associated civil works refurbishment, to prevent potential failure of the upstream spillway control facility, which would address possible drop in water levels below the minimum operational levels and interrupting power production; (b) Reshaping of the Kariba Dam Plunge Pool downstream of the dam to limit scouring and erosion that could potentially undermine the dam foundations; and (c) Supervise all related rehabilitation works and management of environmental and social safeguards.
